Introducing “Creative Balance”: Original art, writing, photography, and poetry from the Parkinson’s community

“But this life, what a shining thing. It is enough.”—author Sue Monk Kidd, diagnosed with Parkinson’s in 2019

At Parkinson’s Wellness Foundation (PWF), we believe that artistic expression has the power to connect, inspire, and uplift. That’s why we’re thrilled to share our Creative Balance series, where we highlight the creative voices and talents of those impacted by PD. We will showcase work from artists, clients, and friends of PWF; and we also invite submissions from our readers. Have something to say, sing, paint or photograph? We would love to hear from you! Contact us with your work or idea. In sharing your talents, you’ll inspire others and help empower our community.

Our inaugural Creative Balance post spotlights Charlie Rizzo, the founder of Rizzo Group, a building and zoning law consulting firm based in New York City. A lifelong creative and writer, Charlie has leaned into his painting and self-expression since being diagnosed with Parkinson’s. Below is one of his paintings on canvas entitled Speak Out, addressing the ways one might cope with the changes to speech that affect many people living with PD.
