Wearable devices and smartphone applications are rapidly changing how people with Parkinson’s disease monitor symptoms, manage medications, track activity, and communicate with their healthcare teams. This presentation provides an overview of current and emerging technologies, including symptom-tracking apps, smart shoes, tremor therapies, sleep devices, and artificial intelligence–enabled tools, while discussing how these innovations can empower individuals with Parkinson’s disease to become more active partners in their care.
Natalie Hellmers, PhD, RN, ACNP-BC, graduated from New York University with her Masters in Science and a PhD in Nursing research. She currently is a Nurse Practitioner at Weill Cornell Medicine Parkinson’s Disease & Movement Disorder Institute. She provides expert clinical evaluations and treatment for movement disorders.
