PD Movement Lab with Pamela Quinn

PD Movement Lab is a dance class built around the practical problems of living with Parkinson’s. Through dance sequences, movement games, partner work, and athletic challenges, students develop bodily awareness and a sense of grace while picking up strategies to move through daily life with greater ease. This class will have a special emphasis on gait in keeping with the Center’s September theme.

Event Date:

10-11am & 12:30-1:30pm

Location:

10-11am: A more rigorous session, well suited for Level 1-Level 2 participants.

12:30-1:30pm: A second session offering more gentle movement, well suited for Level 2-Level 3 participants.

PD Movement Lab was created by Pamela Quinn, a former professional dancer who was diagnosed with Parkinson’s in 1996. After a decade of developing strategies to navigate her own movement challenges, she combined those approaches with her dance background to create the Lab. The class has run weekly since 2006 and has been featured on CBS Evening News, at universities and medical centers across the country, and at five of seven World Parkinson Congresses.
